The highlight of this year’s edition of the cable industry annual meeting may be today’s discussion with executives from nearly every big U.S. media company (and a tech interloper). We’ll list them in alphabetical order to avoid bruising any egos: Tech-industry pioneer Marc Andreessen ; Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes , CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves; Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, who is expected to take over NBC Universal as well; and Tom Rothman, co-CEO of News Corp.’s film division. If that’s not enough firepower, the panel is moderated by former FCC chairman Michael Powell.
The media types are coming off mostly rosy first-quarter financial results, but still face troubling questions about how their businesses can adapt to the rising popularity of online video and renewed regulatory interest in Internet.
